happy birthday, daddy!!

happy birthday to you!  happy birthday to you!!  happy birthday dear daddy!!!
happy birthday to you!

the second daddy left for the golf course on sunday, we were on several baking missions.  the first was to make a cake for daddy. O originally wanted to make cupcakes but at the very last minute, she decided she wanted to make a cake.  i only had strawberry.  yay for daddy's pink cake!

i gave O every single sprinkle and gel pen i had.  put her in her painting shirt and let her go to town.  poor E wanted to help so bad!!
the first dump?  all of the red, white and blue sprinkles!
 next up?  halloween sprinkles!
 isn't it so pretty!!
i let her have 100% free range and her creation was soooo beautiful!
i have sprinkles that are shaped like chicks, pigs, bunnies, etc.  in fact, i have every single farm animal!
i put O's cute little oil cloth apron on her and she said "mommy, i look like ms. gladys"!  gladys is the cook at her school and she always wears an apron - so funny!!!
i asked her how many candles she wanted to add.  she said 1-2-3-4-5-6...
and, here is the finished product.  it is truly the most beautiful cake in the entire world and daddy will be so excited!!
 now, on to the gifts!
i gave O $10 and we went to the dollar tree.  i told her she could pick out ANYTHING she wanted for daddy but we could only get 10 things.  OMG!  it was our funniest experience yet!
later that evening and after a special birthday dinner, we presented daddy with his amazing cake.  he loved it!!
there are a few more than 6 candles, won't you agree?
when he blew out the candles, sprinkles went EVERYWHERE!!  O thought it was part of the show!
she helped daddy take all (20) of the candles off and she licked every one.
she was SO excited to give daddy his special presents.  she spotted the reindeer first and said "mommy, this would be AWESOME for daddy!!"  yes, honey, it would be awesome for daddy.  everyone in the store thought this was really funny.  (i never used the word 'awesome' during our adventure.  that was all her!)
i told S that yes, most of these things would go straight to the t-r-a-s-h after bedtime but he played along so sweetly and O was incredibly proud.
ain't he cute??  ha!  she picked out this fall pick too!
400 beads, a purple piggy bank and a coke.
a my little pony book, foam stickers, an angel holding a bird.  everything a daddy could want!!!
we'll keep the beads, the stickers, the book, the coke and the card that she picked out but refused to sign.
we'll also keep these two cuties.
(E had just drenched herself with the aquadoodle so she's sans pants.)
 and their sweet daddy!!!
happy birthday, sean!  we love you so very much and we hope you have an "AWESOME" birthday!!!!

I triple heart love your idea of letting her pick things out at the dollar store. Stephen had a bday this weekend too, so I now I have to wait a whole year to use this idea!

HILLLLLARIOUS! Love, love how your humor comes across in your posts. You always crack me up. Another great idea, that Lucy and I just might have to "borrow". Looks like Sean had a great birthday!
